Hi all,
The fluctuating voltage issue at D13 and U4 has been resolved - it turns out
this was caused by my power supply. Switching to another supply cured this.
Thanks to Don for pointing me in that direction.
I'm now at page 44 of the manual - Receiver Tests
When switching bands I can hear

My vote is that XIT is not a useful feature in a rig that has two VFOs A
B, with the SPLIT option. I have never used XIT with the K2 and it does not
exist in my homebrew rigs. Maybe I am missing something?

Hi Geoff. K8ZOA has designed a nice panadapter that I showed at my booth
at Dayton, connected to my K2. It looks very nice, and connects to a
computer for a nice display. There is also an optional GLCD display for
standalone use.
It uses a DDS chip to determine IF center frequency, so it

I'm sure your K2 Kit will arrive soon. Elecraft
seems to get them right out, when ordered.
I just finished K2 # 5422, about 2 weeks ago. Since
then I have been aligning and tweaking the

Hi everyone,
Hope Memorial Day is fun (and meaningful) for all.
I am rechecking T4. Leads 1 2 are Green hookup wire in 2 turns on
the binocular core, leads 3 4 are white in 3 turns.
I think I have wound it correctly...it looks the same as the diagrams
in Figures 6-28 and 6-29.

OK, I goofed once again.
It turns out that the advice to NEVER work on the kit when you're tired or
not thinking clear is a piece of GOLDEN advice.
My KPA100 was nearly ready on Friday night, I only had to attach the cables
to connect the KPA to the K2 motherboard.
Instead of waiting until
John,
Yes, you have it correct. Each pass of the wire through both holes is one
turn.
Note for the near future - when you put in the 'links', these bare wires go
only through one hole of the binocular core.

Glenn,
Those pins are actually easy to remove, but it does take a bit of care.
Use a very small tip screwdriver-like tool and depress the small 'tongue' of
metal that should have popped up into the slot on the side of the connector
housing - once that has been depressed, the pin should slide out
As I'm new to the Elecraft discussion list, I run the danger of
repeating that which has gone before. However from reading the
suggestions for new products, I could not help feeling there is a
yawning gap.
As the happy owner of an XV144 transverter, I have long been considering

I am building K2 #5538. All was going well until I got to the PLL upgrade
kit. By all the previous emails I have figured its an engineering change.
My two questions are:
1. Can I use solid wire to mount/connect the upgrade board to the RF board,
vice the green stranded?
2. Because there

The PLL Temp Comp board sits vertically on the RF Board - upright just like
an R pak would sit.
Yes, use solid wire. If you received only stranded wire with your K2 kit,
that was a packing error - the solid wire commonly has green insulation, but
that could possibly be changed. The Encoder
