Keith,
The current production K2s have a SSB filter bandwidth of 2.4 kHz - that
can be easily changed to a 2.6 kHz width by changing the capacitor

I haven't used or worked a K2 on SSB but I get the impression it is not
the best audio. Seems to me the issue is not the mic, but the 2.0 KHz
SSB filter. That's pretty narrow and won't give good hi-fi (or mid-fi)

How hard would it be to increase the bandwidth of the SSB board's filter

I'd LOVE to order one but there is a Problem with them. I send left
handed with paddles and right handed with a straight key. I need to
have them separate. Arrrggghh! I considered getting one but I'd be
lifting it from one side of the rig to the other all the time so, I'll
stick with the Nye
My antenna is similar. 28.5' tall, ground mounted over twelve 28' long
radials. Fed with 30 feet of RG-213. With a tuner the system works
well enough on 40, 30, 20, 15. 80 Meters is the pits. Dummy Load City!
I'm considering putting a remote ATU at the base of the antenna.

Thanks Vin!
While driving to church one day, I spotted a car at a red light. The
driver was a retired man in a suit and tie. His passenger was a well
dressed lady in her mid 60's. I concluded they were on their way to
church, just like my family and me. On the roof of the car, right above

Dave, you may be right but, as one who doesn't like classical music, I
read your music tip a bit differently.
I'm thinking ... "yea, listen to classical music for a while. After
that CW will be like music to your ears and you'll be able to tolerate a

If the K2 can do 1 watt into 4 ohms I'd expect it would do 1/2 watt at 8
ohms, not 1/4. The drop in volume from 4 ohm to 8 ohm should be small.
Noticeable, but small; assuming of course the efficiency of the two

If the QRP transmitter gets the multiplier, it is incentive for them to
stay low.
If the guy who works him gets the multiplier, it is incentive for him to
dig out the weak ones.
How about having multipliers for the QSO, not for one station or the

That's great Simon.
I hope you got my shipping address right on the order :-)

Really, well, I guess I'm a bit surprised. I'd have expected (pure
guess here) the R1 to be better than the RX1. Hmmm.
Thanks ...

Your original question was K1 vs KX1 - which is "better" & how are they
different. I've been waiting patiently for a flood of answers but have
yet to see any that addressed that question. Did they all come to you
privately? What was the read on the differences in performance between
the two rigs
