I'm running two K3s, each into its own Alpha 86 at 1.5 KW. Same
configuration at home with 87As. I've never encountered what you describe.

I agree with Joe's summary. Note that the "250" Hz 8-pole filter is really
about 370 Hz at the -6 dB point. Any of the current "500", "400" or "250"
Hz crystal filters will be fine for RTTY. With any of them, the DSP can be
narrowed to 300 Hz without rolling off the outside edges of the two tone

The Elecraft "250 Hz 8-pole" crystal filter is 370 Hz at the -6 dB point.
You can run the DSP down as low as 300 Hz with this crystal filter and have
minimal roll-off of the 170 Hz shift RTTY signal.
In practice, I have run 200 Hz DSP in large RTTY pileups with great success
in contests for months

I had two K3s and three laptops, plus all the cables, trackballs, etc. in my

I'm not Wayne/Eric, but the KRX3 shipment schedule is simply a function of
parts and production bottleneck. The second RX is identical to the main RX,
so the design/implementation is well in hand. Its just that other modules
are taking priority and attention in the production pipeline right now,

The K3 field testers are only able to get two, maybe three, K3 stations on a
team for NAQP RTTY Saturday. (The others are writing firmware, writing
manuals, attending weddings, returning from Alaska, etc.) Teams are five

Yes, the current firmware decodes CW, RTTY and PSK in the VFO-B display
area. However, it is just the first pass implementation and more tweaking
and functionality is on the way. This is a great feature (coupl

The MCU file is 360KB and the DSP is 103KB.

This is right, but note two things. The current K3 firmware loader we are

for updating the K3 firmware are still being finalized. There may be more

I don't get this rant. There ARE band-stacking registers on the K3. In
fact, FOUR per band instead of the three per band on the ProIII and only two
per band in some other radios. Yes, the band-changing UI is different than
the ProIII and other radios, but you know what? ... I've gotten to like i

AFX is the "Audio Effects" function. It is not finalized yet, but

For now, there is no USB port integrated in the K3. However, Elecraft has
carefully selected a third-party Serial-USB adapter cable that has worked
perfectly in many configurations at the factory and in field test. It can
