Hello Elecraft !
I want to run the KX3 Extended VFO Temperature Compensation procedure again
as I still get +/- 1 drift on 40 meters wspr. The instructions say: "If
using the Elecraft XG50 *for the first time*, an 8 hour power-on aging

I am searching for what software exists that will allow the KX3, while in

I am running a KX3 indoors into a mag loop for 40-30-20 and I get plenty of

Awesome, thanks Wayne!
I will look forward to it. We are getting really nice weather here in

KX3/ax1 and having fun with that. Will have to get some camping time

There was some discussion here about a possible extender add-on for the AX1
antenna to allow operation on 40 meters, called the AXE1. Is that still in
development? I really like this antenna and would love to extend its
capabilities to 40!

Okay well I tried transmitting at 144.49 from my HT and yep! Sure enough a
big orange signal on the PX3 so it seems to be working fine, I guess the 2
meter background noise is so much less than on HF apparently. It is
certainly totally blank on the PX3 though without an actual signal.

I have started running wspr mode on 2 meters using the KX3/PX3. I have not

I am having problems getting the PX3 to work with a thumb drive for

Hello everyone in Elecraft land!
I just wanted to share my initial results with the AX1 with my KX3 and I am

Hi everyone. Trying to get set up here with a hand key for the first time
with the KX3.
I acquired a key that came with a 1/4" plug, so I thought I could buy an
adapter that would take this down to a 1/8" plug and avoid having to solder
anything. The 1/8" plug is stereo, and the meter shows that TI
I have been experimenting with WSPR mode at 2-10 milliwatts of power out as

Hey group
I have an issue here and am wondering if a good band pass filter would

Ryan,
I experienced the same issue on my kx3 also. I was able to tighten it down
enough with a wrench to keep it snug so far, but still keep an eye on it. I
also thought abt locktite but didn't like the idea of introducing non
conductive material between the case and the jack.

This is a somewhat minor issue but it seemed so weird I thought I would ask
anyway.
I have a Diamond dual band vhf/uhf antenna that I bought, it has an SMA
connector, but when seated all the way on the KX3 VHF out, something is
shorting out the signal. I have to back out on the connector a little.
memory for the channel you start on has an "*" in the

I am trying to figure out what is causing RCL REQ to show up on the display
when I am trying to scan channels (channel hopping is what the manual calls
it) and not entering Scanning.
For example, I have 28 memory channels assigned with local 2 meter repeater

Please add my name to that list as a feature req for the KX3.
Channel hopping (scan) pause = x seconds/off.
By comparison, the ft-817 uses 3/5/10 seconds as scan resume options + OFF.
The kx3 resumes fairly quick after it stops on a signal. I never used
scanning on HF but it comes in handy scannin
I have only used Eneloop AA batteries on my kx3, so not sure if its just
them, but getting them out of the battery holder (on each end end) is
difficult.
So I cut a strip of coated paper from a catalog, and wrapped that around
the end of battery on the + end and now I can pull them out easily.

Okay I am reaching our to the Elecraft enthusiasts here for some feedback

not that familiar with band conditions in general. It looks like the

Hello Elecraft group,
I don't own anything made by Elecraft yet however I have been shopping for
an HF rig to get active again (I have been off the air for a number of
years for personal reasons). I really like Elecraft's products, and I am
intrigued by the 'software definable radio' possibilities
for made-in-USA products,
what I don't like are surprises and obscure policies. Why can't they just
state the rate (per X$) up front? Or do they have to consult the oracle to
find out what the insurance rate is?
