Adriaan,
I have an idea of what you are going through. Managing a system without
prior training is tough. And a system that is in use and having problems
makes it much more difficult.
But your education will proceed at a faster pace if you purchase a book or

Sure sounds like ytou need some training sessions for your users. Starting

Spending $ on training is probably the best investment any company can make.

Why BLB = BAD. A true tale from my last company.
After 3 months of banging their heads, the idiots at a remote site got BLB &
restores to work in test. So they ran it on the production box. I was
adamant that the Exchange online backup be run first. That took about 2-3
hours. The BLB took over 12
We had a similar problem at my last company. Some untrained admin-wannabe
added a fax connector and it created a bogus address template. PSS had us
delete a template for a foreign language. I can't remember the details. It
may have been done in raw mode. You should call PSS to walk you through it.
All Exchange servers in a site or org do NOT have to be at the same SP
level. In a site with many servers it may not be possible to upgrade the SP
on all servers at the same time. And if there are problems, this may be most
undesireable. However, you certainly should run with all servers at the sa
Blocking Sending is indirect. Create a DL. Add this DL to the delivery

Try moving mailboxes in small groups of 20-30. Then check database
consistency. I have seen the move cure corruption problems. I think you will
be pleasantly surprised. A 20MB mailbox takes about 3-5 minutes, in my
experience, over a similar LAN.

Here is a short outline of the process for blocking outgoing SMTP.
1. Create a DL for this specific purpose.
2. In the IMS properties, Delivery Restrictions tab, add the DL to "Reject
messages from". Stop & Restart the IMS.
3. You can now hide the DL from the GAL

Heer are some of the things I have learned. I wish I could put them into
practice.
1. Do not let any users create public folders. Have them send the request to
a knowledgable Exchange admin. Preferably the one who will have to restore
them.
2. Design a naming standard and hierarchy first. Think WA

A quick solution is move the mailbox to another server in the site, via
ExAdmin. User needs to be logged out of Outlook. This has worked for me in
the past. If there was corruption, it gets cleaned up as messages are
gathered from the store for the move.
