As it was in the cooker GUI install, my PS/2 mouse was not detected and,
although the keyboard shortcut keys can be successfully used, it is a
painful process. A switch to a serial mouse worked around the problem and a
session with mouseconfig after re-boot put my PS/2
I had the same problem with Mandrake 6.1
I found out that telnetd was not installed by default.
Go get the telnetd rpm and manually install it.
That should fix it.
