I had the exact opposite effect. I went from a 2.4.3 kernel, X 4.0.? and

You haven't stated if you did a fresh install of LM 8.0 or an upgrade or
which kernel you are using. I may be incorrect in this but I believe
that if you are using the 2.4.x kernel you do not need the /etc/ispnp
config in your system. You might try renaming this /etc/isapnp file and
then reboot th

I applied a diff file to the tarball. I then bziped this tarball back into
the originally-named xpdf-0.92.tar.bz2. Running the rpm -bb command, it
properly un-bzips and untars the xpdf file and creates an xpdf-0.92 source

ipchains has been deprecated in 2.4, and you will need to migrate to
iptables instead. I don't know if there is a workaround to make ipchains

the Documentations of the kernel that i should already
go for iptables so i stick it out with ipchains so

I just installed Mandrake 8. When I try to mount a nfs share from a solaris
2.7 box the mount takes a very long time (more than 4min). When I try to
mount the same nfs mount in Konqueror its takes less than a second.
Showmount -e solarisserver show all the valid mounts.

1.1.9.

I think your still a bit confused about what civileme was saying. From my
recollection of your original post, you initially had your system configured
to use your modem to access the internet. (or that is the way the install
configured your system) You now have an ethernet card and a ser

It should have the line "GATEWAYDEV=eth0".
