I don't think you will find current systems from either vendor for the

Have you tried compiling reiserfs into the kernel instead of a module? I know
you can use the mkinitrd to make a ram disk with all of the modules you need
to load before the file systems can be mounted, but I have found it easier
(sometimes) to just compile it in.

It's taken me 4 weeks of fairly constant tinkering, adjustment and
experimentation to arrive at the conclusion that it is impossible to
configure my sound card - which seems remarkable as in most ways it is

Forgive the long post but if anyone has anything constructive to

There is an old version of Mandrake for Sparc.
Thereis an even older version of RH for Sparc.
Suse however released for free v 7.3 for Sparc
and it runs wonderfully on my Ultra 5.
I am going to install it this weekend on my two
Sparcstations as well.

I also run Linux (Mandrake) on my Ultra2, and it runs beautifully. I have
been trying with NO success to have it run using my two screens (Creator3D
and TurboGX+). Is there any way you can help me set this up?

Did you install Xfree v4.2. It is the first version
to have hw support for the sun boxes. I forget
off hand which cards are supported though.
With 4.2, you should be able to get xinerama going
KDE is getting better at the xinerama displays, and
it is available for Sparcs.

Since there are a number of SoundBlasters out there can you provide more
info on your sound card, the 4.1. Is it a Live or the new Audigy series,
or an older card?

Dean,
You need to recompile the kdelibs package. When you are recompiling it,
ensure that --enable-xinerama is passed to the configure script.
If that does not help, contact me off the list and I will try to help you.

I have a Matrox G450. All I can say is I dl'ed the
Matrox drivers, and powerdesk from their site.
Then I had two separate desktops. With a fast
config change, I could have xinerama as you stated
two monitors merged to one large desktop.
KDE is my DE.

Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft?
Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com
www.sophos.com has a decent av scanner, that I hear works for this.
I installed it in Windows just to scan my partition.
For a friend of mine, it picked up two viruses that the most uptodate Norton
didn't.

Depends on your firewall methodology: if using iptables, write iptable

We have a mail server, and for the moment anyway, windows users

If using this, the script pmfirewall might come in handy. Don't know if
it works with 2.4 kernels though. It may do.

We are using MailScanner with NAI uvscan and are very impressed. MailScanner
works well with SpamAssassin, catches 99.9% of all spam that was coming
through our mail servers. Packages are available on freshmeat.

Hi Guys,
I'm really rather new to pcmcia and wireless lan in general, however I
was recently given a wireless pcmcia card which uses the wvlan_cs driver
and thought I would try to get this up and running.
However I'm not exactly sure how to do this?
Do I:
1) add an entry to modules.conf that
