THis is how i installed a pure reiserFS system. hdreiser.img is just to upgrade a reiser system but it can be used to install too. This must be done in expert mode. boot with the floppy image then when you get to the diskdrake section of the install you must change the file type to reiserFS in

Don't worry about Reiser and booting; Mandrake sets up a ramdisk. It's all done automatically during the install. If anything, I'd look into the notebook pointer/mouse issues with MDK 8.0. That seems to be the most frequent gotcha reported on this list. No problem with mdk 7.2 though. Dave. On 1

I don't see the point in going back to ext2. Ext3 is just ext2 + journal, so you would be changing nothing in the file system, just losing the journal. FWIW I've been using ext3 for around 18 months and despite the occasional bad shutdown I've lost nothing. I see no point in changing. Anne
