Hooray,
Mine is here, too! For the first time in my life I am a proud
owner of a Finale T-Shirt. Wow! The new hyphens work really well (one
has to turn them on in documents created on older versions, though) and
distances are specified easily. It's just that now we all have to clean
up
I got my WinFin 2K4 yesterday. So far I really like what I've seen and heard. I have
run into one problem which I'm hoping someone will be able to help clear up. All the
files from previous versions opened up and were converted to the new format seamlessly
except for one. Wouldn't you know it's
I've been looking at the new Fin04 features (without being able to *use* any of
them--don't think beta testing is any bed of roses) for nearly six months. Yet it took
me until yesterday to notice one of the best improvements in it: Simple Note Entry.
Are you a Speedy addict? Have you ever tried

You are definitely right! I have been a
hyper-scribe-midi-keyboard-enterer since day one. I have never really
understood how speedy works. But this now is really great. It works like
a type-writer for music. And it's so fast once you get used to it. I am
wondering whether this might be faster than

My question is, is there some relationship between MIDI entry and the new
Simple Entry?
You bet there is. This is what it took me 6 months to get. As I said before, it
works similarly to Speedy with caps lock on.

My question is, is there some relationship between MIDI entry and the new
Simple Entry? I'm having a really hard time imagining what can be so great
about entering a five-note chord one note at a time (the old Simple) vs. all
at once (the old Speedy). I'm using old since I know

Yes. Using Finale's new simple entry you can use a MIDI keyboard. (For me
personally, I prefer it to speedy in most situations)
Okay, I'm beggin' here...I still can't decipher how it works. Could you or
someone provide a somewhat more detailed description
My observations with respect to Sibelius step mode and Fin04 Speedy are in relation to
how they work with midi keyboard. I've never investigated with program with respect to
how to enter notes w/o a midi keyboard.

Like Speedy caps lock.
Like the Sibelius demo.

I haven't spent any time on it, but I did spend my lunch hour studying
Chapter 15 of the documentation. I suggest you print off that chapter
and study it in detail. There is going to be a learning curve with
this
Thanks for the descriptions of how Simple will work. I think there was a
small misunderstanding--I'm not trying to learn how to use it; I don't own
F2K4 and can't get it until October. I'm just very curious about it given
all the favorable comparisons to Speedy Entry.

One simple question. I don't want to use the Sibelius A B C D E F G letters

Installed on (Windoze98) and registered and no apparent running problems, but then
again, no deadlines are looming.
Some menu items have been moved for who knows what reason.
