Hi,
I also like the saddle I got from Montana Mountain Horse. I thought the
price was very reasonable. My only complaint was that it took much longer
to finish my saddle than originally stated. Unexpected problems happen, but

I was unable to get a fit with either full quarter horse bars, or
semi-quarter horse bars. My little guy is in-between, and the western
saddles were too long. I've had good luck with an ortho-flex so far.
They will also custom
at the base than most western pommels.
The western saddles with full quarter bars I looked at would not have not
been too wide for my mare, but they would have been way to big for her back
(length along the spine). There are western saddles made for draft horses
with even wider gullets, but I

I have had pretty good luck with Ortho-Flex. Not all models are the same!
some are built with wider trees...the western Tempe and the Trail Partner
have 7.5 gullets and fit the wider fjords. I have presently an English

seemed to be slipping. That is why I bought the back

Michele, It sounds as if we'll need to buy a full size saddle with full
quarter horse tree, for our boys and then refit it with custom(shorter)
stirrup leathers. The barrel racing saddles come in as small as 14
seats. Also, I just

Jane, Me too!! I am currently looking for a 13-14 inch saddle for my boys,
that will fit the Fjords. I just sold a 15 inch and am still selling a 14
1/2 that won't fit the Fjords.
I'll be keeping an eye on the replies for this one

I know nothing about western saddles, and the
smaller seat size saddles
in our local tack store are very narrow, made for
small ponies.

You're right on here - most 'child size' western
saddles are made to go on a pony or very small - read

much further since we got rid of the little english saddle. The security of
the cordura frees his
