My mare has had anemia off and on - mostly due to her kidney problems; but
my vet clinic did a ton of research on fjords and did find one very
interesting fact. A vet from Germany said he had noted that fjords would
test positive for anemia before work

Reena, what's his "number"? Fjords and drafts do read lower on their
hematocrit than other breeds, 32 is not uncommon. Thoroughbreds, OTOH are
often about 45. The red blood cells are stored in the spleen and when
