I finally figured this out. This morning the SDR box didn't fire up at all.
No fan, no red light on power switch, zip. I pulled the cover off tonight
and after tracing the input 13v found the wire from the fuse to the switch
was intermittent. If I wiggled it, 13v would appear at the switch. It's

This is normal. What you are seeing is the AM station carrier beating
against the SDR (just like an analog receiver with the bfo on). If you
switch the SDR to SAM mode it will sync the SDR and the carrier and you will
have great sounding AM.
