Q45. How much of the FLEX-5000's operation
is controlled/restricted by the radio's firmware?
Thank you very much clarification. As much as one may like closed source or not,
one can understand why this is being done.
Just to be sure that I understand correctly. Standard usage is TX in Ham
Thats what I did too. It froze up after 4 sec. Deleting all and starting

and re do all your port connections, settings etc. Cpu usage is way down
with this version. It also sounds clean some how. W8XO

Forget Flex radio for a minute. Look at pro audio cards. IF USB

communications and guarantee in order and on time delivery of the

This problem is apparently specific to individual station settings. I will

I stand corrected. :-( I did the initial testing and the ANF outperformed
all other radios I owned, and I owned them all. I just checked it again and
you are right. Something has changed. We'll get to the bottom of it.

OK, OK! I seem to have started this one!
Gerald's comment ...couldn't meet the specs... was the answer to my
question.
OK, I am a bit surprised, but that info will cause me to look a lot
deeper before I try to use USB to get the data into the PC.

Fear not. We have archives locally and on an older website. We'll get this
worked out and post the program/source on the download page. Note that the
original SDRConsole does not support the RFE board.

I have a Firebox and a FA66...and have tried all sample rates and buffer

I have yet to get the ANF to work as well as my ICOMs. It doesn't even
work as well as the Kenwood2000...which isn't great.
IMO...a great auto notch can't be detected when engaged. It doesn't make

I have this same problem and have been meaning to post about it for some

notch filter is not very effective. I've been assuming that this

I ran a few tests with ANF while listening to 60m Ch2 this evening:
1) Playing around with the various settings in the setup panel (Taps, Delay,
Gain) had no effect on the carrier present in the passband. Note that Block
LMS was ON.
2) On turning Block LMS OFF, the carrier's audio
FYI, the carrier that was the subject of the previously mentioned tests
was in fact a spur that disappears when Spur Reduction is turned OFF. I
have no idea if a locally generated spur is a good approximation of an
interfering carrier!

Hi Bob, Pete,
On start-up I too have found that ANF and NR both start as if Block LMS is
DISABLED, irrespective of whether it is selected or not. Only after
unchecking and rechecking will Block LMS be activated. This behavior occurs
in both the official 1.8.0 release and in the SDR-X SVNs.
Bob is exactly right. If USB could have done the job, we would have been
selling USB sound cards for years. The fact is we looked at every vendor on
the planet and could not find a single USB device that had the number of
inputs and outputs we needed. We found them in FireWire but not USB.
Not to beat a dead horse too much, but
Just today, I tried to fire up a new FPGA board (Xylo from knjn.com), and
that darned enumeration raised its ugly head again.
The board won't load the proper drivers because XP Media Center edition
seems to think the FPGA card is a DVB-T USB receiver. I

Nobody is arguing with you, Gerald, regarding whether Firewire was the
proper choice for the 5K or whether USB could meet your stated
throughput requirement.
MAN you guys seem dogmatic. Are you even reading the replies? I sure

Does anyone have any recommendations for add-on parallel port cards. My new
PC does not have a parallel port and from my understanding the only way to
run the SDR-1000 under vista is to the an actual parallel port.
Recommendations?
Laptop? Desktop? PCI? PCI-epxress? Cardbus?
