The adoption of a SDR point of view continues to penetrate the Ham
consciousness. In articles past it would be me and N9DG pro everyone else con.
There are a LOT more pro's even if it is only mildly pro or begrudgingly pro
At least we seem to have gotten beyond the knob debate to more
In my system, I've found that WDM provides a better signal for CWSkimmer to
decode.
But to use WDM, you should make a change to the VAC setup.
WDM prefers 'Cable range' to 'Cable format'.
I can see a distinct improvement in the scrolling cw in the CWSkimmer
waterfall. It's sharper, brighter,
Chipping away at the stone
Eventually we'll get there.

I agree. And it is very clear to me that the number of average hams who do now
understand the concepts, the technology, and what it represents, is steadily
increasing. And the percentage of respondents to those eHam articles who

Greetings, Flexers:
There are always those for whom if it isn't right for them, it isn't right

There are an abundance of those people in their camp. Not surprisingly,
we have some of those people in our camp.

Hi All,
While I agree with most everything said here, I must take exception to the
statement that Flex blows the 9000 and 7800 out of the water. Each has its
own personality and each is a top performing radio. I have 2 QTHs. I use a

One of my joys is to sit with a cuppa coffee in hand (is this digital

This topic of SDRs vs knobs is an interesting one. My take is as

What I find very strange in all this
Agreed!
That's exactly what I wrote about. It's about using another sensory input

uninstall the fa-66 driver, and reinstall the driver, goes fine
Contact Edirol support if the sound card can not keep its drivers installed
properly. All PowerSDR does is access the card like any other ASIO sound card
based application. I do not suspect it is a FlexRadio problem.
Also, just use the FLEX-5000 and FLEX-3000 if they don't have any problems
There is a known delay on PTT in HRD when PTT is controlled by CAT via a
virtual com port pair. No delay when PTT is controlled by a second virtual com
port pair and all other CAT control via the first pair.
It was thought that Vcom or com0com might be the problem. I have tried the

A 25 amp Astron switcher should work well as a P/S.
I'll let others comment on successful laptop configurations, as I use small PCs

It turns out the Bios update did not make much difference in the DPC/hang
problem. The problem shows when using the file browser or loading programs.
I also disabled the Cool and Quiet setting in the Bios.
I am using SP3 and don't run an anti virus program.
