I saved this from a post long ago on one of the QRP mailing lists. My
manual and external auto-tuners always seem to find a match with these
lengths. I tend to go with "longer is better" if you intend lower
frequency operation.

it seems to be kinder to a couple of older XP machines we have at home

In my experience as a co-moderator of some other mailing lists ARRL
addresses just seem to be problematic. Second only to yahoo.com
addresses. The ARRL contracts out that work and it seems every few
months the contractor really stumbles. Perhaps as they have employee
turnover, etc.
