The Trans Intl site has some good info on putting hard drives and RAM

The hard drive installation page is here:

Good luck.

I have half a gig of ram in my Pismo and running system 9.1 for now. Is
there any consensus yet about the G4 upgrade and the overheating issue. I
installed Finalcut Pro and plan to get a firewire external drive (any recs?)
so I can learn to edit a movie that I plan to shoot.

I am totally satisfied with the G4 upgrade. It runs cooler than before,

Thanks for your thoughts about OSX, but that didn't answer my questions..

Is there anyway to get rid of the smiling face before the startupsplash

No, no that I am aware of. Other than going to OS-X 10.2.x The startup

I definitely hear you. I've been a Mac user since OS 6, and also have

Just this last weekend I was working with one of my sound apps in 9.2.2 on

result was a non booting HD in OSX or OS9. I initially used the Tech Tool

iBook - go dual USB, any speed or model should be OK for the short term
light use you are talking about but its a huge bonus in size, weight,
features, and screen quality for travel.

The problem is that the PCMCIA adapter doesn't 'handle' anything at all.
It is essentially the 'drive cable' connecting the Smartcard to the Mac.
