Ibook not seeing DVD drive

Hi All, I have a firewire EZQUEST DVD burner and I had a 400 slot loader and all was fine. I bought an Ibook & it doesn't recognize it. If I un-plug the drive and go into system profiler the firewire section shows the port & gives the speed. If I plug-in the drive & do the same it says no info
