Agreed. When you charge a premium for the product, tell your customer
that the warranty does not cover any defects (and besides the issue
is obviously user related wear and tear and not piss poor

Actually, it is an issue with all surveys other than those surveys

Last week, we installed a wireless router for our Power Book (OS
10.4) and Windows XP. We would like to put in a firewall. Is there
software that is recommended or should be avoided?
Is there anything to keep in mind or to watch for when setting up the
firewall?

Hi Jim,
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience. I would suggest that
you send a letter along with copies of any communication exchanges to
your Attorney General's office. Some states have a consumer fraud
division. Also, IIRC, the FTC maintains a consumer complain division.
Based, unfortunately, on personal experience, you have a slowly dying
power cable. You have about 8 months (give or take) from the when the
problem initially began. To avoid buying an overpriced Apple
replacement part, check web sites for a replacement cable.
Also, my Book has the vertical

I would bet the power pack (the line that runs from the Power Book to the
electrical plug) is failing. I had the same occurrence and followed the same
advice as below.
Avoid that advice. Buy a new power pack. Apple's replacement goes for $80.
You can get those cheaper at
I missed those posts too. :-( I bought a refurb 15 AlBook in March. Not
less than six months later, I have two cracks on the plastic frame, the palm
rest has separated from the plastic trim, and there are burned in marks on
the screen.
When I contacted Apple, they told me it was normal wear and
Oh, that is too funny and, unfortunately, too true.

I have a file with 8k on my desktop and I cannot get rid of it. Every time I
try to move it to the trash or my hard drive, I get a message that the file
is in use and cannot be trashed.
I tried booting in safe mode, Classic mode and from a start up DVD. No dice.
How do I get rid of it? What is
I found this site, http://www.entourage.mvps.org/ , very helpful when I
moved from Apple Mail to Entourage.
I like Entourage, but I am not sold on it. I prefer the Entourage calendar
over iCal, especially the invite feature. I have not used the notes or tasks
portion of the program.
Of course,
I need to burn several CDs of pictures, music and documents on my PB G4 with

I have never burned CDs. Is there are a good brand or bad brand on the
This summer, the family is taking a drive to Denver. I would like to use my
Power Book G4 in the car, but the battery life is too short. Are there any
cables or plugs that would allow me to use the auxiliary power supply (AKA
cigarette lighters) in the car?
Thanks,

I bought a refurbished PowerBook G4, which arrived two weeks ago. I noticed
it came with 10.2 installed. Do I get an upgrade to 10.3? Or do I have to
pay for it?

My refurb PB arrives tomorrow and I need to get files off my iMac. I was
able to export the contact list in Entourage. How do I get my e-mail
messages, folders and contacts from the iMac to the PB?
The iTunes files and pictures seem straight forward enough.
I also have two log-ins on the iMac,

I ran both on Macintosh; Tax Cut for TY 2001 and Turbo Tax for TY 2002. I
prefer Turbo Tax, because the interview feature seemed better than Tax Cut.
I also prefer TT for the New York state return, which is one of the most
complicated returns.
Others will like Tax Cut, personal preference.
