If you're using the OEM 9600 CPU you can only run OS X up to 10.2.8, but if you have a G3 or G4 CPU upgrade you can install up to 10.4.11 without much hassle (if you have enough RAM, and the 9600 supports 1.5GB). You can also install Leopard 10.5.8 with a little hassle, which is right up

You're going to have to flash the BIOS of the card (PC terminology) to a Mac ROM (Mac terminology) so that the card has Mac firmware instead of PC firmware. This is required of all PPC Mac video cards. On Intel hackintosh this isn't necessary, but you'd need to have OS X kexts that support

I had Mac OS X 10.5.8 on my PM G4, and I updated it to the 2010-004 security update. Since I had 3 Os's on my PM G4, it automatically booted up into Mac OS X Jaguar, and it told me to restart. Now I can't fix leopard and it loads up with the frey apple logo and spinning wheel for like forever! --

Try looking on the system profiler application on your system, or get a thermal sensor that plugs into one of the internal ports on your system. There is no general thermal calibration for all G5 systems, so finding the proper information on what you are looking for is going to be a challenge. If

i may be wrong, and no doubt someone will pounce on me if i am, but i believe the GeForce 6800 for PC can be flashed to run on a mac. IIRC, getting it to work in a QS would also involve taping over pins #3 and #11 on the card. i seem to remember seeing details on this somewhere on the web.

I suggest that you fix it up and get that piece of history back on it's feet, because a pismo G3 doesn't just come around the ocrner too much anymore. I am not sure of this, but i don't think that Powerbook G3 laptops are able to run OS X due to some processor peroblem or some limitiation. Maybe

esp dual CPUs I have had anything to do with run hotter than any of the previous G4 series. In saying that though you can reduce the heat quite a bit by a reapplication of the thermal paste between the processor and heatsink. You can also buy third party cooling fans to help reduce temps too
