You need to add it as SYNC_PROXY="" for it to sync. the http_proxy is for
downloading the files not syncing.

AFAIK it is. It does however, contain a bit of redundancy. According
to the GCC man page; "specifying -march=cpu-type implies
-mcpu=cpu-type." So the following should be identical:

i downloaded the portage-some-day.tar.bz2 and unpacked it in
/usr/portage.
then i can continue with the install process with emerge -u world.

It is just letting you know that the kernle you have merged does not have XFS support,
if you need it then you would want to remerge it with 'USE="xfs"', otherwise don't
worry about it.

I was going through the installation process, and after copying and
extracting stage1-x86-1.4_rc3.tar.bz2 to /mnt/gentoo. I went inside

You might tray a stage 2 or 3 but if your card isn't recognized now it may
not be with those. I've only done stage 1.
However, if you haven't done emerge sync you won't have any files.
Have you tried finding out what module your card uses and doing a modprobe on
it once the LiveCD is booted?

I've upgraded from Gentoo 1.2 to 1.4 (perl 5.8, gcc 3.2.2, glibc 2.3.1) and
now fetchyahoo doesn't forward emails anymore. Can someone please confirm
this?
NOTE: fetchyahoo download emails to a file, but I need to forward to another
email account.
