I've been using a LITE-ON 40x12x48 cd burner for months w/o any problem. Last week,
it tanked. I substituted a Samsung 48x24x48 from one of my other computers; it worked
fine. Today, I picked up a new LITE-ON 52x32x52 as a replacement. It'll burn as an
ATAPI drive (using X-CD-Roast), but

I run Gentoo on a production server. I have 2 different backup methods. First, I have a
second HD of identical size that I do a nightly rsync to. Second, I have a tape backup
drive. I do 'tar -cjf /tmp/backup.tar.bz2 /home ...
Can you share the script/crontab etc you use to accomplish this?

Cheers:)
Max.

I see two things:
First, you're not binding to the LDAP server to set the passwords. You
don't have a bindpw set (no secret retrieved).
Second, you're mixing local files with ldap. You've created
/etc/samba/private/smbpasswd, but the smbpasswd program wants to set
passwords in LDAP.

The script follows. Note that I'm just synchronizing some directories from
my $HOME -- stuff left sitting in there won't get synchronized (though one
