It's that time of year: holiday parties, winter balls, company

costumers are probably making something. So, what's your dressmaker's
dummy wearing today?
We don't have a dummy either. But, the DH is busy making 2 teddy
bears and 2 shoulder wraps out of an old mink coat. A co-worker of
mine had this old coat from her grandmother, and she asked if we
could make bears and wraps out of it for her granddaughters. So, I
spent about 2 weeks carefull

Melanie, I, too, love the work you have done on that doublet. You have

suitable project to work on. Ah, perhaps the glove gauntlets I keep

My son has armor draped on it.
I made a duct tape dummy lost weight and moved it to the garage. My son needed
some place to hold his leather tunic with metal plates while he works on it,
and look, there's a dummie in the garage, just for him, he thinks.

You need to get a male mannequin, too! I bought a torso from a shirt store
that was closing for $10.

I wish I had a dressmaker's dummy. If I did have one, I believe I would have
a 16th century German dress on it. There's a dress on the front of a pattern
from Period Patterns that I just adore. The color would be emerald green.
Maybe Santa will be nice to me this year. Sigh.

I did exactly the same thing (picking off horrid flowers) a couple of months

them, and a bolt of perfectly nice, medium-weight, white linen. Cost? L

It is finished but it reminds me that I am going to make it again but

coats, a little later than you are planning, but the tailoring is
very similar. I wrote an article on the research for Vintage Connection.

Thank you for the response!
I'll try to answer all the emails at once.
I will hopefully get the "Cut of Men's Clothes" (Norah Waugh) and the
Cut of Women's Clothes as a X-mas present from my husband.
