Of the three microtomes that you listed I would highly recommend the Thermo Shandon Finesse. It's of superior quality than the Microms I have used. Cutting is excellent and the fly wheel action is light yet fluid. You do have to oil it manually once a month but it's easy and you can clean it out

Yikes. There is a lot of play getting that bubble in the middle of the universal aligner that may translate to large variations in alignment each time the thing is used. The high cost is probably for the clamp, but if the bubble level is worth $1.50 the quality of the clamp doesn't matter.

A while back I remember someone suggestion something like a right angle device that carpenters use. It's basically just a piece of metal that is a right angle triangle that you put up against the chuck and on the knife mount. Then you align the chuck so it is a a right angle to the knife mount.
