I am having the same problems here. I have tried all combinations of file
permissions and ownership I can think of. I made the file a very simple one
to just set a known tf2 convar to a default setting, to remove the
possibility of a malformed
I got my install complete about 25 minutes before they released the
linux server... :(
I used vmserver and saw okay performance, but the free vmserver doesn't
handle memory or CPU usage as nice as ESX.

fine (apart from the missing particles/error.pcf file but I get rejected

easally join a server with a reserved slot to perform admin duties and such.
With a low slot limit of 24 its a waste of space to keep 1 slot constantly

Use hlsw to look at your rcon stats.
When typing rcon stats in console in game he takes the stats from your pc.
But in hlsw you don't need to type rcon, only stats is enouf.

We had the same problem with our server. It seems as if the 1000Hz
kernel has no effect on 64-bit kernel. Go to 32-bit and recompile for
1000Hz again and you'll be good to go.

On a box hosting 10 servers (Usually only 3-4 up at any time), we just
use symlinks to a single shared hl2 install- the game folder gets to be
a real copy, but bulk files are symlinked to avoid having to duplicate
them. Works like a charm.
Having just one startup script to edit is nice, too.
The idea was to protect the 25th slot by scripting, i.e. sourcemod for tf2
etc.

I was wondering if all the systems this game is releasing on are going to
use the same servers? I noticed in the config files for the tf2 there were
some files referencing Xbox 360 gamepad settings.
Anyone know?

Find it _extremely_ unlikely, though I've not heard official word - but
could you imagine gamepad v's keyboard mouse? They'd get demolished time
after time, no matter how good they are.
