I mean, if you don't get a connection, then RC -5 on PUT would be correct.
Could this be the case?

Are you using active or passive FTP? If you are using passive FTP to get
around the problem of foreign server establishing data connection to your
unprivileged port (>1023), which would probably be blocked by your firewall,
then server side might have a problem.
In active mode, foreign server alway
Darren,
I would think that you will have to change your IOCDS for the hardware
configuration. You need one set of CHPIDs for the z/OS LPAR and its 8XXX device
numbers and a separate set of CHPIDs for the z/VM LPAR and its 8XXX device
numbers. Don't forget to exclude the CHPIDs from the access a
Hi guys,
We have a machine with two LPARs; one z/OS and one z/VM. The hardware config is
done via z/OS and z/VM picks up devices automatically via sensing. We've
recently added a number of new DASD devices at 8000-8FFF for the z/OS side.
Unfortunately, z/VM uses an EDEVICE at 8000 to access som

I do remember something about a socket not being available a while back.
Once the socket was bound to a port, it could not used for about 2 or 4
minutes(dependent on some ip value). The port/socket would have a
"time-wait" status and could not be reused until this time had expired.
This was direct
I don't remember the details but about 10 years ago, I found that FTP
would fail after "x" number of files during the same FTP PUT. If I
remember correctly, it had to do with a max number of sessions or
something like that. The number kept on incrementing with each
successive file until the
