As long as you run EXACTLY the same thing on each linux server with the same
users, same transactions and same configuration, then you can be successful
in answering how many will fit on an IFL. :-)
Our charge-back model is that there is a basic monthly charge for the server
and support, tiered
of the servers is very different.

z/VM and the hardware have been darn near rock solid. We have had a bump or
two in the road, but they have long been solved. From a virtualization and

sounds like you have compelling reasons to ask for the 'next step' to be
done - to remove real memory dynamically. I have not heard anything formal

understandable since the client base is very small and no one has been
asking for it. It is fairly stable and unless major changes are done in the
z/OS catalog (which is entirely possible at any given release) it should
continue

at. Guessing what file modes to access disks at is probably not a grand
idea because it could be that some component will use that file mode later

via a CMS Pipeline, then you do whatever you want with the content. It
relies on Charlotte's http engine to do that heavy lifting.
There is also work in progress to build a curl/wget CMS widget. I can tag

http calls, not ftp which VMFTP does a grand job with. WebRover is built to

of thumb to at least get you started. Following those books/papers will
