My question is--do I need to feed my horses something high in protein? My horses are more companion/pet than riding machine so they're not burning a lot of energy. I wouldn't dare to feed my icelandic grain she would be enormous. I give her supplements in a handful of Dengie Hi Fi lite

Yes, horse manure isn't particularly hot -- it doesn't burn the plants. Hhhhmmm, as old farmers, we avoid fresh horse manure on plants because in our area it will burn plants. Could be a difference in climate conditions, plants or horses. Well-rotted horse manure is in such demand that

I found that... for whatever reason, horse manure produced great luxuriant foliage on my roses, but they never bloomed! Then chicken manure, they bloomed like crazy. I put horse manure tea on all my other plants. chicken manure will burn like crazy so I use dirt from inside the chicken pens
