Hi,
I am still using skype 3.8 as well. I downgraded IE 8 again here
sometime back but did not experience any conflict between IE 8 and
skype. I never install the browser plugins though.
I would uninstall skype completely and then reinstall avoiding the
browser blugins. Additionally,
Have the same setup and no problems running.
Would dump that and any tool bars running in IE, because they do slow
the system down even when not opened.

Okay but how do you do that when jaws is your only screen reader?
Maybe I should look for NVDA or something like that, load it and then use
it to re-install Jaws. I already have the full version in my Downloads
file.
Thanks for the info.

After Skype 3.8, Skype underwent significant changes in its architecture
such that, for a long time, versions of Skype didn't work as well as 3.8
did with JAWS. Now, however, Skype version
Regarding the Jaws update problem with my 64 bit system,
As suggested, the only way to resolve the problem I had was to remove Jaws
entirely and then download a completely new version. But as I asked before,
how can that be done when the only screen reader you use is Jaws.
Well, I went out and
The insert key plus Q shuts down NVDA.
I've set up a hot key to start it.
Somehow or other I've got Eloquence or something similar to it as my
voice, but I can't remember how I did it.
What a laugh I got with Sir Barrel helpful but angry.
Thanks for the chuckle.

You could have use JAW to do the download of the exe file and than remove
the old version.

I tried NVDA for a while too and didn't like the voice.
There is an elequence driver for it though.
I believe the NVDA key is insert plus n?

HI John;
Being that you just installed NVDA, Insert + Q, shuts it down but, you need
to use the Insert key that is in the 6 pack, not the the Insert key that
is in the number pad. The Insert key in the number pad has to be setup in
the NVDA keyboard settings before it can be used as a
