My Canadian Lacemaker Gazette arrived today and I have had a quick look. I'm
saving it to have a longer read over the weekend.
Hope everyone else's copy arrives soon.

I'd forgotten about that. Sounds good to me!

Hello Lacefriends,
I too have some glass bibbins, i got them as presents from friends or
after taking a lace class. And i don't use them for lacemaking they
are nice rememberings to some people for me.

I have some of these. I got from Allison Addicks years ago, and I am sure she
said they were Malcome Fowler's...and they are Pyrex. I love them, but use
only when lacing with a run under my feet!!! Fingers crossed.have not

I have four Malcome Fowler bobbins. He told me they were made of Pyrex and
that in the unlikely event that they broke, he would repair them. Mine

love the reminder of them, but I keep them in a display cabinet. They are
I've got several glass bobbins, but haven't had the courage to use them.
Additionally, they're not all the same length or thickness. I have one,
bought on ebay, which origiated from the IOLI convention of 1989 hosted by
the Rocky Mountains Lace Guild, which has a spiky blue flower on one side.
Hi All,
I would agree that some of the bobbins - such as the ones made by Tuffnell -
are quite chunky, so I am not too keen on those. But - Malcolm Fowler makes
the most delightful glass bobbins - they are slim and dainty, and with all
sorts of lovely things in the bobbins - such as titanium spir

Hi Helen !
I also was smitten with the glass bobbin fever a few years ago! Like Margot, I
loved the sound of the bobbins. But one day, four hit the floor at the same
time and broke (can't remember the details of that disaster!) Lucky for me,
the maker promised to mend any I broke, so I had t
Of course it would be nice for some of us if everyone in the world

I've already got are from him - so the rest should feel similar enough. An
added extra, the price isn't too bad to slowly work my way up to lots of

Hi All,
I bought a pair of these bobbins on ebay a few weeks ago. I found them a
little chunky (diameter 3/8ths inch) and somewhat longer (5.25 inches
without spangle) than the other midlands bobbins that I use - they'll
be fine for me for gimp though. You may need to take this into
consideration
I think Phil Tuffnell makes all things glass including bobbins, I've just done
a quick google and I can't find any trace of him. Maybe someone has contact

What about tooth picks? :) :)
Sure it is a bit of a joke, but I seem to remember that bone toothpicks were
placed on the table in India, perhaps even China?
Who knows?
