Having thought about it a bit. Phillips’ solidity did allow them to go 3 at
the back in the 2nd half with him as one of them, It meant any one of him,
Ayling and White were able to step forward when we had the ball. A player less
accomplished than Phillips would not have enabled this.
KOT.
Totally agree Nick. I might sound like a broken record but having a team built
around Philps, with him taking all set pieces is building a team of mediocrity.
He's totally one paced and as you say when he gets the ball the whole tempo
slows. I thought Steve McClaren talked a lot of shit when he
damp squid of a game - we are much more likely to win when the opposition is up
and at us and the possession is closer to 50:50…we just get more room because
they are pushed up on us trying to score - rather than back in numbers - there
are spaces to exploit.
Philips and his fucking corners wer
Good question re White and their goal - why didn’t he get goalside? That was a
really odd bit of defending and I said that last night - it was almost as if he
wanted him to shoot?
Given Brentfords goal difference, there’s effectively a 5 point cushion - I’m
not at all confident after the last 3
The last sentence by Nick is the only thing that is keeping me feeling ok. I
bet west brom fans are shitting it worse than us!
If the next 3 games ho the same as the last 3, ie 4 pts for us and 9pts for
brentford, they will only be one point behind us with 3 to play! A big ask for
brentford bu
Yes, that's the poorest piece of defending I've seen this season and all the
stranger that it was arguably our best performer this season. You very really
see a defender allow an attacker so much space that they are able to get a
goalside shot that ends up in the far corner, they usually have t
1. Phillips. Have none of you got any idea of the basic principles of
Bielsa's method of play? One of them is to switch play from one side to the
other quickly and often (to keep the defenders moving across and back over
and over.) To do this, somebody has to pass the ball sideways. Phillips is
the
Good points but ultimately wrong.
1. You used the word yourself - 'quickly'. That adjective could never be
applied to our Kalvin. Passing the ball sideways isn't a crime but sideways and
backwards 90% of the time as a midfielder aint good.
2. It was a good finish, but basic defending would hav
I don’t know why you bother either - on that we can agree.
I love the way you pass off patronising people as being some superior
footballing power. Best chuckle I’ve had today ;-)
I love your stereotyping English fans too - you sound ever so slightly bigoted.
Very clever.
‘White had no clue he
Yes those are the three who stick out for me. Yesterday from the 85th to 95th
minutes when we were camped in their 18 Bamford was out on the edge of the area
the whole time. He is our CF ffs how will he score from there? Maybe at those
times go two up top to give more of an edge.

If (big if) we can win the next two I think we will be in a really good place.
Just need those wins to steady the nerves. If we lost Saturday I think we might
collapse.

This might change things a little. My sympathy is mitigated by the fact they
would have had an extra £30 in they hadn't refused to sell me a ticket when we
played there on the final day of the Garry Monk season.
They are away to Brentford on Saturday, and their 12 point deduction will give

Well that's me put in my place. Thanks for that.
Meanwhile, I am going to carry on LOVING watching a young, humble local lad
playing the pivot in the best footballing side we have had for over 40
years. And I'm also going to enjoy watching probably the best English CH

That's lovely.
However, Rio was the 4th best central defender at the club when he played for
Leeds.

Don't bother Rob, the prevailing attitude of Leeds fans is we are shit and
won't go up, and if we do we'll be shit in the Premier League and come right
back down again. It makes me laugh when people say that Mclaren is an idiot,
except when he agrees with them. They can't stand being proved wr
FWIW I think we’d do better in the top flight with this team.
The other observation was because of Cooper’s injury we played most of the
game with 1 centre half, so Phillips was in essence playing central
defence.

We play best when there’s space in front of us. Teams like Luton and Cardiff
are happy to let us have the ball, sit back, and wait for us to fuck it up.

Richard - could you paste the link to the survey please, you know, the one

Jesus so what's the point of having a point of view eh? Fuck me if I can't
even comment on the weaknesses some of the players have. Doesn't mean they are

doing but does mean can be disappointed with certain aspects o
John, read Social media if you want to find plenty of examples of negative over
reaction, just as there was the opposite after we beat the 3rd team in the
league, but I'm sure you already knew that. Everyone is entitled to their
opinions and I'm entitled to my opinion on their opinions. The fac

After todays result, I am beginning to have doubts.
It looks like Brentford plus one.
We have looked very iffy since the break. We are not showing the panache and
belief I expect from a team driving for promotion. We can miss out yet again.
