and then I go into the backup folder and delete others.
I would never rely on one or two backups and only recent backups for
data that takes so long to enter and is so complex that you may not

could just overwrite the same one instead of creating a folder full of them.

Problems can arise when you install an *older* one over a more recent one.

The backup file will always be smaller than the corresponding data file
because it is compressed to save space. Now if you are saying a backup file
made today is smaller than the *backup* file made yesterday (without having
edited the data file to delete people or data) then you have a problem.
Can someone please explain to me why every time I do a backup of my info I
loose KBs. I seem to have the same # of people, so what am I loosing ?

Watching the updating process, as far as I can tell the updates only replace
the files which have changed. I think that at one time iy used to replace all,
but I am not sure.
However, it is not necessary to uninstall first in order to update and it may
even cause problems.

seen a problem with the approach you describe. You are installing a
NEWER version.

problem, although I am using XP and not Vista. I also note the comments from
