The date should be the date the event occurred. Then it will show you a timeline of events so you can see any trends or missing information or even contradictions. Your images can and should be linked to every person and field they apply to. Although everyone has their choice of methodology.

Excel doesn't recognize dates prior to 1900 so it will leave those alone. Dates starting with 1900 are converted to a number so you can do 'arithmetic' on them. Thus full dates are converted and partial dates are not. You must have the date formatting in excel set up to show m/d/. Those
