SLES9 and some SLES8! They released SLES10 only just and only for s390x,

I am installing rdiff, which requires libsync-devel, but I am unable to

At one time I activated the YOU server on our SLES9 guest. I want to
remove it now. I find that it has stashed away tons of rpms under
/var/s390.

You could NFS mount the Linux files on zOS/USS or even SMB mount z/OS on
Linux in order to get a backup.
I am exploring this myself.

Dont know anything about what you are doing. Is it perhaps a permissions
issue?
Is it running as root or under a different user? Does the user haver
permissions to create / open files in that directory?

This will help fix the itty bitty stuff via 3270 console to get a guest
going.
