When I build kernels for LTSP workstations, I NEVER use redhat kernel

Thanks Jim,
I couldn't find the path you mention but I found the servers SVGA and Mach64
in /tftpboot/lts/ltsroot/ltsbin. I put the modified server over there and
made the changes to lts.conf and it seems to work.

This worked for the most part. I found I also had to configure the lts.conf file to

Matthias,
You will need to know what IO address the Ne2000 card is set to. Then, you
need a couple of options in dhcpd.conf:
option option-128 e4:45:74:68:00:00;
option option-129 "NIC=ne IO=0x300";
That is assuming that your network card is set at 0x300.
Notice the option-128 value is NO

Yes, copy that custom X server to /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/X11R6/bin.
You can call it whatever you like. Maybe XF86_SVGA.cx5530
Then, in the lts.conf file, you can set XSERVER=XF86_SVGA.cx5530 in the

You can also set XF86CONFIG_FILE to point to your cu

That cannot be the solution because this entry is already available.

Hi,
both dhcpd version , two stable and three rc , are included in SuSE 7.3.
You just have to change the DAEMON_BIN variable in /etc/rc.d/dhcpd into
DAEMON_BIN=/usr/sbin/dhcpd-2.
That's the way i did after different trouble with dhcpd 3.0.
good luck,

Diego,
Take a look at your /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf file.
Look for the '[xdmcp]' section and make sure it says 'Enable=true'.
Somewhere along the way, somebody changed the entry from 'Enable=0/1' to
'Enable = false/true'.
The newer versions require the 'true' instead of '1'.
Hope that helps,
Ji
Marek,
I've done this with KDM on a Redhat 7.2 machine.
In your /etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc file, you can add entries like the following:
#
# These entries will allow auto-login.
#
# Each workstation can have its own unique user id
#
[X-ws004:0-Core]
AutoLoginEnable=true
AutoLoginUser=jam
[X-ws005:0-C
Bitlov,
in your '--rootdir=' option, you can't put the IP address. the kernel
will ignore that.
If you need to specify a server different from the dhcp/tftp server,
then you need to do
it in the 'rootpath' option in dhcpd.conf.
And, you need to be using ltsp 2.09pre4 for that to work properly
Marcus,
You have two choices:
1) Find the XF86_SVGA binary from the old LTSP installation and copy
it to /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/X11R6/bin
2) Change your 'XSERVER' line to 'XSERVER = auto' in the lts.conf file.
It will then automatically detect your video card and use the
correct driver.
Duan,
WHen you built your kernel, did you also apply the NFS-swap patch?
Try setting the nfs swap option to 'N' in lts.conf, and see if it makes
it further.

Giorgio,
You can get that error if the dhcpd isn't setup properly on your
server.
the dhclient program will attempt to get a response from the server. If
it succeeds, then
it will automatically create the dhcpd-eth0.info file and fill it with

Ola,
In the lts.conf file, you can specify XSERVER = XF86_S3
Then, you need to find an old XFree 3.3.6 XF86_S3 Xserver, either from
an older Linux distribution, or you can pull it out of one of the older
LTSP X packages.
Put the server in /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/X11R6/bin
That should do it.
