Well... xinet is running. Have I installed the tftp server the right
way? This is what I did:
Rpm -i tftp-server-0.17-9.i386.rpm
vi /etc/xinetd.d/tftp (here I changed "disabled = yes to disabled = no)
Installed the Core, and by the guide from here.

I have spanish keyboards in my computers (terminals
and server) but terminal keyboards are not properly
configured (server keyb is OK) so I copy and paste
keyboard related lines fron XF86Conf file to lts.conf
but it doesn't work. Here is my new lts.conf:

I'd say this is normal.
the head moves to a parking position when the power goes away.
some harddrives are louder than others.

I found it !!! - FYI don't for get to check the File Systems | Automatically

Thanks Jim, doing the diff allowed me to find the problem. Thanks to

Probabily, the new version are different and I wait for this.
May be also for the old ltsp 2.08 is needed a translation,

In any case, witch format (html, txt, sgml... ) and witch apply is

I stand corrected, I overlooked the single "a" in netstat.
Please disregard my advice, Asbjørn. Your xinetd is most likely running and
doing its job. net

Asbjorn,
The output of netstat looks fine. It shows that there is a process
listening on
port 69 (tftp).
you could try running the tftp client program on your server.
type this:
tftp localhost
Then, you will get a prompt like this:

Sagar,
LTSP 2.09pre4 is very stable. The only reason we haven't made it a
production
release yet is because I am still working on the documentation, and I don't
want to release it until that is done.
if you go by the Instructions sheet on the ltsp site for 2.09pre4, you

hi,
thanks for the advice but is LTSP 2.09pre4 stable
enough? will it crash often. coz the setup is at an
engineering college and it will be problematic for me
if the server crashes often while the students are
practicing their normal unix commands.
thanks in advance

Andy,
I had the same problem. There are two solutions:
1. Rebuild the kernel image
2. Use PXE to boot
In the past I have gone the route of building kernels for special devices to

The NCD ThinSTARs require that they have the ThinPATH X windows module
loaded in order to connect to a Linux or Unix server using the X protocol.
Since they are Windows Based Terminals they contain Windows CE on flash as

Subject: [Ltsp-discuss] kernel problems with 2.09pr
Hi all,
I have managed to setup a basic LTSP system at home
using floppies to boot and am looking at some
alternative boot methods.
The clients I am using are old-ish IBM 340 desktop
pc's P100 16mb Ram etc. I am thinking of moving to
either PXE enabled NIC or Bootromed NICs.

Yogesh,
With 2.09pre4, you don't need to specify the agpgart.o module. It
should be loaded automatically.
You can verify this by setting the runlevel to 3, and then running lsmod
at the shell prompt,
to see if the module is indeed loaded.
What do you have your XSERVER entry set to in the lts
Sagar,
The 2.2.18 kernel doesn't support the DFE538tx.
You can either grab the latest rtl8139 driver from Donald Becker's web site
at http://www.scyld.com,
or you could upgrade to LTSP 2.09pre4, which uses the 2.4.9 kernel which
does
support that card.
If you don't already know how to compile
Looking at the NCD web page on the ThinStar terminal, it appears that it
can be configured as an X terminal.
In that case, you should be able to tell it to get an XDMCP login from
the LTSP
server.
Probably fairly easy to do, if you can figure out how to get into the
setup screen
of the termina
Asbjorn,
It looks like you have both inetd and xinetd configured on your system.
Which one is running ? Maybe both!
It's entirely possible that you have both of them running, but only one
of them can be configured for tftp at any given time.
Do a ps -ef | grep inetd
and see if they are both r

Hello!
I have tried the lts_kernel-2.09pre4-4 ready kernels and I have tried
compiling my own but I always get the same error when trying to
boot the Diskless Client. I use 3Com905 NIC's and use the imggen
script to add MBR support.
I had lts 2.08 working fine with the same equipment...

Hi Mr Jim,
After installing the ltsp version 2.09pre4, the below-mentioned DFE538TX
card issue has been sorted out. The workstation works fine in Runlevel 4.
But when I set runlevel = 5 in lts.conf, an Xserver problem is observed. The
workstation is i810-based, so when I add the line MODULE_01
As for you I had some kind of problem setting up the new 2.09pre4.
First, if I use dhcp to get client IP, then I had to add /tftpboot/lts
to the /etc/exports and then to make my etherboot floppy with NFS proto
enable instead of tftp...
I'm using Suse7.3 and my tftp seems to be enable.
Well now i

A school with a number of NCD Win-terminals (probably ThinSTAR - I haven't
seen them yet, but the description fits) has asked if these can be used with
an LTSP solution. The description on the web page of NCD looks promising,
