Hello,
I am new to ltsp (tried unsuccessfully xtermkit before) and have
some problem(s) to get it working.
Servers:

supposed to do and managing 40+ win worksations but netstat -ant | grep

My experience is right the opposite one. With each release SuSE
tries to comply a little bit more with some obscure standard for
structuring the subdirector

Right you are! Although IMO the problem is not with LTSP and is not
restricted to monitors. Even the most recent Linux distros have
problems recognising ANY old hardware. But then again that's why w

Well, i'm happy to announce that the RPM packages for LTSP 3.0
are now available for download from the LTSP download page
at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=17723
So, enjoy, and please send any feedback you have to the ltsp-discuss mailing

Thank you,

I will keep you all informed of my progress.
I have two laptops with two different PC Cards and if I can get them to
work I will post a howto and links to the boot images as the PC Cards I
am using are pretty common place.

Shawn,
The mounting of the root filesystem via NFS happens inside the linuxrc
script
that is part of the initrd image.
If you want to modify that, you'll need to download the ltsp_initrd_kit
package
and modify the script, then using the buildk script, run it through
mknbi-linux,
to bundle it

I've successfully configured a boot floppy that worked with a 2.4.x
kernel and a 3Com 3C589 PCMCIA card. I did not boot LTSP from them but
a root NFS install of RH 7.1 just t
Found this on another list I am on. Looks greeat for low
memory/bandwidth situations. I have been running it on my laptop since
last night and really am having fun with it.

Just a quick question. I need to mount the /opt/ltsp/i386 NFS share as
rw. I changed it in the /etc/exports and I then ran exportfs -ra to
re-read the exports list and I restarted NFS. When the terminal boots up,
the filesystem is still read-only. I checked on the terminal, and the

Getting old monitors to work with LTSP X-server can be a drag. Mostly it is
the default H-sync and V-sync rates, that don't match your hardware. Try
manually editing these values in XF86Config for your workstation. I found a
killer website that lists hundreds of models with specs. Check it out.
I'm about to try it myself. I'll be using a Pentium90 laptop w/16M, 3COM
3C574-TX PCMCIA card, SuSe 7.2 (on the server), and (obviously) a boot
floppy instead of boot ROM. Here's what I'm thinking:
1 Load a small Kernel from floppy
2 Load PCMCIA module from floppy
3 run DHCP
4 run tftp and get *re
Hello,
How will I upgrade (or perhaps uninstall) 2.09pre4-4 to 3.0 that was installed in my
system? I was able to install lts_core and lts_kernel and intalled it in the /opt
directory and right now that I was able to download the ltsp_packages version 3.0, I
want to upgrade it in my system.
Please help me elliminate the annoying message that
always appear everytime I boot up my DC's . It always says "svc:
unknown version (3)" I'm using RH7.1, ltsp version 2.09pre4, 3c905c-tx NICS. Thanks in advance
