Hi
Make a boot with your client and then read the file dhcpd.leases in /var/???
on the server with the dhcpd-service. The last entry are the last boot with the
MAC address of your client. Then can make the entry in the /etc/dhcpd.conf of the
server with your required IP address ...

I've been searching the net for something like LTSP.
I am working for a company that will, within the year or two have a number of
Linux boxes throughout the state, and will likely soon be adding more in
other states. Due to the number of systems and the fact that this is a small
company, the
Hi
I have a i815 based motherboard. I see that the ltsp stock kernel does not
support this. I have tried to make my own kernel for a whole day (and night)
now, but there is no luck. The kernel boots but cannot execute start_ws and
some other problems. If anybody has a kernel with support for r

Glenn,
Back when we created LTSP v3.0, a big part of that was to
allow multiple architectures for the workstations.
The x86 workstations will mount /opt/ltsp/i386, the PPC I think
will mount /opt/ltsp/ppc. So, they should piecefully co-exist.

From reading the instructions for Power PC Mac clients it
sound like to me you have to have a dedicated LTSP server just for Power
PC. Is this true? I would like to run Intel and Power PC
clients of the same box is this possible?
I am newbie to Linux, but have been playing with it severa

If you are getting the gray screen, then it is likely 1 of 2 things.
1) the display manager (XDM,KDM,GDM) isn't running on the server, or
isn't configured for remote workstations to connect.
Try: netstat -anp | grep ":177 "
If you don't get any output, then your display manager isn't
First thing to look at is to make sure that the workstation knows
its own hostname, and that matches what you have in the lts.conf file.
Set RUNLEVEL = 3 and boot the workstation, and then you should get
a shell prompt. At that point, run the hostname command and see
what the hostname is. That
Ken,
the /opt/ltsp/i386 SHOULD be read-only. You certainly don't want any
of your workstations modifying anything in that directory.
