It seems that your server is not answering XDMCP requests. Have you enabled XDMCP in your display manager (xdm/kdm/gdm) and made sure your LTSP server is not firewalling against it? This might fix your problem. You mentioned that you're not getting a login screen, but you didn't say what you

Your server must be running KDM, in order for XDMCP to work. If you are not running graphical login, your server is most likely not running KDM. (Try ps ax | grep kdm). You can actually run KDM without running graphical login, but this is more tricky, so most people don't do this right away:
