I work for an organization that has 250 Windows XP fat clients spread
out across 36 locations. I'd certainly love to get rid of those. But
I'd like some recommendations on what's doable. Our users don't need
much...just access to an Office Suite and a few web sites. We are
making a radical chang
king. the iOpener seems to take a very long
time detecting its own hardware each time it boots.
Is there any way to avoid this?
Could also be part of the problem?

Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
Get stuff done quickly with pre-integrated technology to make your
building the
kernel, but once its loaded into memory what different
boot steps will I need to take inorder to proceed with
an LTSP boot process?
Thanks

Has anyone tried this before? Is there documentation
that I could look at? The LTSP documentation mentions
this topic, but never offers any explanation.
It seems like this could be a great way to breathe
some life into the older computers we have around
here.

Stephen,
in the /etc/sysconfig directory, theres a file called dhcpd
edit that file and put in the following
DHCPARGS=eth0
then restart your dhcpd server. This will inctruct your dhcp server
to only listen to eth0
Hope This Help

Put your workstation name to your /etc/hosts file at the server. That should

I am using 3C905C since I start using LTSP. You can use
config.ne2000 as a template when compiling your own kernel but it doesnt
mean that it is required. What you want is the latest version of imggen
utility which you will find at ltsp.org website.

Where can I find the linuxrc and dhclient script?
I haven't touch /linuxrc script. I am using ltsp supplied kernel. I just
tagged it with imggen to make it MBA compatible. I am using RH 7.1 with
kernel 2.4.17 from kernel.org.
Thanks

one of the mentioned
above is the problem, That error of yours is a problem of negotiation
between NICS and HUB or NICS to NICS meaning you have to set the proper
duplex settings (HALF or FULL duplex mode) of your NICS
Hope that helps

It would be helpful if you can post here your lts.conf file, inittab
(/etc/inittab and /tftpboot/lts/ltsroot/etc/inittab) and the version of
