My guess is that the backups are stored in some temp directory but I
cannot remember which one. I am on Windows 7.
Maybe it would be nice to list that path somewhere in LyX. Maybe in
the About dialog together with the library and user directory?
Did you already check out the “path” tab in the LyX preference box?

To increase depth, just use the Tab. To decrease the next paragraph use

I did not find any commandline tool either. As the problem was restricted
to only 11 files, I manually converted them to pdf (on my Windows machine)
and urged my co-author not to use emf files anymore ;-)

the right margin.
However, it so happens that I use marginal notes in my document,
and they also use the right-hand margin.
The change bars now go straight through the marginal notes.

I solved my cross-reference problem:
bigfoot seems not to accept footnotes if they are in a section heading.
after eliminating that one everything worked again.
nevertheless I as well have some problems with pagination
I can't get some pages flushbottom
no idea why
however it's only on very few
