If long-term comfort is a priority, Sennheiser's higher end headphones are the way to go, their ear cushions are ridiculously soft. The MDRV6 has replaceable ear pads, but I'm not sure about the cord. I'd say the Sonys would be a good bet at that budget and for the application. On Nov 25,

Hi Alex, For audio editing, I use around-the-ear headphones, Sony MDRV6s, that sound great. They have a reputation for having a sound that doesn't mask the qualities of the original audio source. I wouldn't exactly call them mobile headphones, though they do fold up for transport or storage.
