Hiya, first off, I got an email from amulation.com saying my address was

I just resubbed

Quick question...Is my player fried?
I have a Sharp 702 and just got done recording some
music onto it from my computer, and I get no playback
at all. All I hear is ssshhh, crackle, crackle.
And it only gets louder when I turn the volume up.
The functions all work ok, but no playback.
I will probably buy one of these as I have bought many MD products and
am becoming interested now in digital camera recording, ( I currently
own the Sony TRV 900 3 CCD Mini DV Camcorder.), HDTV and the like.
However, I have several questions about the unit if anyone knows:

Well, I solved my strange volume problem on my Sharp 702. As you may
remember, my 702 played music extremely quietly, while the "beep" sound
remained normal. Strange, right? I figured it was an EEPROM related
problem, but after Hannes Rohde so kindly sent me the EEPROM defaults and I
I guess I started a bigger revolution on another list than I thought.

Howdy,
I recently picked up the new Sharp 831 that came out not too
long ago. I've noticed something about it and i'd like to
know if any other people have noticed.
When i open the unit up, i notice that the door opens more

I haven't opened the unit
yet, but from its operation I have deduced that its little more than
a Unilink-controlled rotary switch. For whatever reason, the
head unit seems to operate the changers one-at-a-time, period...
That's why

I'm not terribly suprised. They are one of the worst places
for making good marketing decisions. Hell look at when they stopped
carrying Macintosh. All that happened there, was that CompUSA started
doing more sales. If they are smart, (which I don't think they are)
they'll keep MD around, and
Hey all --
First off, great list. I've been here for less than a week and I've learned
alot already.
I've also learned a lot in testing different MD recorders, and one of the
main things I've learned is that they're dang expensive for the average Joe
(i.e. etown.com reader). That's obviously
If it ain't broke don't fix it. Dude, that is such a minuscule difference
that it's far too trivial to even consider. Just slip the disc in there and
enjoy the sound.
Bear in mind, this is a consumer item, not a professional item and even then
they're not exactly built to military specs either.

I don't think it'll work out, to tell the truth. It's big and it's
expensive. It says it's less than $10/hour and claims
Hello...
This is kinda off topic, but could any of you give me directions on how to
get some really nice feedback (the squealing sounds you get from holding a
mic too close to a speaker). I wanna record some really cool feedback on md
or something...loop it into a song maybe...

hello all, just seeing if anyone has or can suggest a good
car md player/md changer controller. ive got one of those
double slots, so i was thinking of putting either a md player
deck and a 3 cd changer or some kind of other configuration.
i was also curious to see if any of them can control

Hi!
Does anyone know if there are tools to edit mp3s in the mpeg domain,
without the conversion mp3-wav-mp3?
I could use a tool that cuts single mpeg frames from songs to remove
clicks or long intros from songs...

Noah,
I also have the 831, and have noticed the exact same problem. I've
actually gone through two of them (first bought the silver model, then sold
it and bought the blue model which I still have) and both of them were a
little bit crooked (but only by about a mm or so). Also it did not look
