I usually stand about 5 feet from the PA. If you stand in the back of venue, you'll pick a lot of crowd noise. I use an external volume control and use the Line In jack on my MD. I would suggest at looking at SoundPro or Coresound Mics. Their designed for loud music. Ken -Original
