Jaime Using a mirror to sight the tab inside the tool port hole could get you real close. I believe Marshall said his mechanic could do so. All you are doing is using your eyeball to judge if the tab is in the middle enough that the tool would engage it. I think I could come very close. Harry

I suspect the evaporator issue is the same as on the W124 chassis, a fatigue failure at the crimp seal between the copper inlet/outlet lines and the aluminum core. This has been fixed in replacement (OEM, not aftermarket) evaporators. The wiring problems were in the E Class models, with 94-96

Another clarification... when timing with the wet method (bubble, drip) you set it to 24°BTDC, but when timing with the special tools or mirror method, set to 15°ATDC. Big difference! Just hope you don't need to R&R the pump to correct a 4°+ error... that's no fun on a 601 (or so I'm told.) :-) -
