No, the balancer bolts onto the removable flange with the same bolts that hold the pulley on. This is why you need to check the pulley bolts, the balancer will destroy the front cover if it gets loose. The flange is bolted to the crank with a large (24mm?) bolt. Peter ___

You won't see anything unless you have the manual with a drawing -- the balancer is about 8 inches across and quite close to the front cover (this is why we took it off with the wrong seal in hand -- no way to tell until it was off). There is no spacer where the seal runs as there is in the old

Most likely broken timing chain. Take off the valve cover gasket -- a broken chain will be obvious. If the valve cover is broken over the chain, the chain's busted. Repair is USUALLY only a valve job, but you need to check piston condition and for bent rods too, just in case one let go. Peter
