Thanks. Definitely there is a problem in the fuel flap door, since it
won't
unlock with loss of vacuum. I wondered if there a check valve in that
line,
because the servo is only connected to single locking line.

Sadly, he won't be able to sell that car due to his honesty. A VW diesel
with a blown HG is an expensive nightmare... You need access to almost
$1000 worth of special tools just to properly remove and reinstall the
head. I've done a few head gaskets on Volvo D24s (VW diesel) and have no

No, there is not a check valve in the line (at
I've driven a few of these- the steering feels really loose and sloppy,
and the brakes dangerously poor. It's a nervous chore to keep the
vehicle in the lane, and keep a huge following distance on the freeway.
Offroad ability is only slightly better than my stock Volvo Turbo wagon
with a facto

They're impressively bad offroad in stock form, but can be made
impressively good (at the expense of what little on road performance it
once had) with extensive (and expensive) modification to the suspension
and drivetrain- but what can't?

These sort of engine problems are essentially unheard of in MB diesels
that haven't run WVO.
I still stand by the claim that WVO is good, but only if the oil is
heated really hot, and filtered really well (and it almost never is).
