I have had 2 instances many years apart of springs self-destructing
spontaneously; luckily with no one nearby. I was very impressed with the

local company and had the broken one and its still unbroken twin replaced at

calculators I used were huge things with gears and levers needed for my
statistics classes. Later I had an electronic brick with lit up numbers.
