I think it is not impossible to do but you would need to work out the process. I think vacuum bagging it down is a good idea. Pieces can curve on one axis but not two; veneer doesnt do that very well. Violins etc seem to be carved. Not sure if they get veneered after. Can ask my friend Ken;

The founding Constantine was the guy who made all of the desks in the Senate chamber, I believe. The place they had in NYC was amazing, like going back in time. They closed it in the early 2000s, I think. I’ve bought veneer from them and marquetry supplies as long as I’ve done woodworking.
