I had a dear friend lose her father on a “got away” that failed the approach to
Cali in 1994. Copa seems to have failed to switch that one to cargo. May have
been other than Pilot Error, as he was flag officer and milint … probably not
normal wear issue.

All of this old stuff ends up as freighters, not passenger-carrying aircraft,
at least a lot of what I saw was. In fact, you would see a lot of them on the

I owned and operated an aircraft component parts supply business for about
20 years. During that time, many 727's were put into "stand down" status in
storage yards here in the USA and warehouses full of component parts were
being sold off [which I bought with documentation]. The majority of sales
